Maneekala
Watchmaker's workshop

Our Story

Watchmaking is a patient craft — so is running a workshop

Maneekala began with a simple belief: that a watch deserves to be looked after with the same care it was made with.

About Us

The workshop behind the name

Maneekala was founded in Bangkok with one clear purpose: to offer a calm, honest place for watch owners to bring their timepieces and receive straightforward, skilled attention. The name, chosen with care, reflects the idea of something precious kept in good order.

Over the years, we have worked on pieces ranging from simple everyday quartz watches to intricate vintage movements that carry decades of history. Each one is approached the same way — with curiosity, patience, and a preference for doing things properly rather than quickly.

We are based on Sukhumvit Soi 24, in a part of Bangkok that feels unhurried even when the city does not. Our workshop is modest in size but well-equipped for the three services we offer, and we have deliberately kept our focus narrow so that each service is done well.

Customers come to us from across Bangkok, and some travel from outside the city. What most of them say, afterwards, is that they appreciated the clarity: knowing what would happen, what it would cost, and why.

What Guides Us

Values we work by, every day

Honesty first

If a repair is not worthwhile, we say so. We would rather earn your trust with a candid opinion than a bill you did not need.

Patience over speed

Watch repair done properly cannot always be done quickly. We take the time that good work requires, and we are upfront about timelines.

Your decision, always

We present options and explain the trade-offs. The choice of how to proceed stays with you — we are here to inform, not to pressure.

Our Standards

How we approach every piece

Pre-work Assessment

Every watch is inspected before any work begins. Findings are documented and shared with the customer before a decision is made.

Water Resistance Testing

After seal and crystal work, water resistance is checked to confirm the case is properly closed and protected.

Careful Handling & Storage

Watches left in our care are stored individually in padded trays, away from dust, humidity, and direct light.

Written Service Record

We provide a written note of the work carried out and any parts replaced, so there is a clear record for future reference.

Customer Privacy

Contact details collected for service bookings are held securely and used only for that purpose. We do not share customer information.

Post-service Check

Completed work is run through a final check before collection. We prefer to catch any small issue here rather than after the watch has left our hands.

Workshop & Expertise

Watchmaking knowledge, applied with care

Watch repair in Bangkok covers everything from high-volume battery shops to specialist workshops with deep technical knowledge. Maneekala sits firmly in the latter category — a small practice where each piece receives considered attention from a qualified hand.

Quartz movements are the backbone of most everyday watches, and a well-done battery service extends the life of a watch significantly. Beyond the battery, it includes a check of the gasket, a look at the movement condition, and a test of water resistance where applicable. Done correctly, this service keeps a watch running steadily for years.

Vintage restoration is a different kind of work. Older movements often require parts that are no longer in production, and decisions about how to source or fabricate them need to be made thoughtfully. We approach vintage work conservatively — asking first whether an intervention is necessary, and if so, how to carry it out in a way that respects the original.

Crystal replacement sounds simple, and when it goes well it is. The skill lies in finding the right match — correct dimensions, correct material, correct profile — and fitting it cleanly. A poorly fitted crystal can compromise water resistance or look conspicuously wrong. We take time to source well and fit carefully.

Our workshop on Sukhumvit Soi 24 is accessible from central Bangkok by BTS, taxi, or on foot from the Phrom Phong area. We welcome drop-in visits during opening hours, though calling ahead for restoration enquiries is appreciated.
